This wonderful community also boasts gorgeous nature throughout, including the La Mesa Secret Stairs. Tucked away within a peaceful neighborhood, the Secret Stairs are an excellent oasis within the city to get a quick workout in or spend some time alone. Another area where locals enjoy hiking is Mt. Helix. This mountain offers hiking trails and stunning views of the city and the Pacific Ocean from the peak. Nearby is Lake Murray, a large lake created by a 19th-century dam that offers residents hiking, kayaking, and fishing opportunities.
